You Don’t Have to Do This Alone!

So you believe that God is asking you to embark on something new but you are afraid. You don’t feel like you are able to do it. You’re not sure if you have what it takes. You’re not sure if it will be a success. Well guess what? God did not ask you to do this alone. He does not expect you to be alone.

Do you remember when He said in Genesis 2:18 (NKJV), “It is not good that the man should be alone: I will make him an help meet for him? That verse is not just applicable to marriage. It is applicable to life.

God never intended us to “do” the assignment of life alone. He said through the wise man Solomon in Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 (NKJV), “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone?Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

When Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure and letting them know that they would now have to be as He was, the light of the world, their hearts were troubled (John 14:1 – NKJV). They thought that He was leaving them and that they would have to do it alone. But he assured them, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper (parakletos: a helper, succorer, aider, assistant), that He may abide with you forever— I will not leave you orphans (orphanos: bereft of parents, of a teacher, guide, guardian); I will come to you.” (John 14:16,18 NKJV)

From the beginning, God’s intention was that we would be labourers together with Him (1 Corinthians 3:9 – NKJV). He never created us to function apart from him. Jesus reiterated this principle in his teaching in John 15:5 (NKJV) says, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

God has provided us help for life, the Holy Spirit. We don’t have to this alone. We have Help who is a Counselor, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby. He is with us always. He lives with us constantly and is in us. All we have to do is allow him to help us with the loads: loads of insecurity, fear, worries. He will gladly show us the way.

I know because I have proven Him to be the Greatest Help. Sometimes I forget and allow myself to become overwhelmed, but then He whispers to me, “I am here, I will help. All you have to do is ask. You don’t have to do this alone!”
